I am, for lack of a better term, the "unofficial historian" for TUSLOG Detachment 150, Sahintepe (also spelled Sahin Tapesi), Turkey.
I need your help as I recently learned there is virtually no history on file within the Air Force of Detachment 150's mission, location or accomplishments.
Too many people served there between 1962 and the mid-1990s to let their accomplishments disappear into the mists of time.
Every few weeks it seems I get an e-mail from yet another one of the Sahintepe alumni including:
- Sam Frastaci who worked for ITT/Page Communications as part of the site construction team in the mid-1960s
- Stephen Hopfe who was the site commander from Feb 66 to Feb 67
- Howard Jeffrey, Pat Bauer and Larry Casper who served there in '73 and 74
- Steve Cantwell, Jim Greene and Jerry Hibbard who were there in '81 and 82 with me
- Steve Pray who was assigned there in '86 and '87
If you have any stories, documents, photographs and other items we could use to compile a history, I'd like to hear about them. Click here to drop me a note.
