The links on the following pages will open up photographs of TUSLOG Detachment 150 and give you as close as we can take you to a walking tour of the site at Sahintepe.

Note:  The pictures will open in a "zoomed" mode and then resize to fit your browser.

The first picture is a landscape view of TUSLOG Det 150 from the east side of Sahintepe.  (I found this picture, a black and white photograph, in the site's photo lab, so it was obviously developed by some Det 150 member.  The actual photograph is a cross between a sepia tone and black & white photograph.  I was helping to straighten up the old photo lab room for some other use and found it laying on a shelf covered with dust.)  About a half-mile behind the photographer is the radio reflector which received a signal from one of Sahintepe's antennas and bounced it down to Site 4 in Yalova where a repeater unit retransmitted the signal to the Air Force radio unit assigned to Izmit.

The second photograph is a cropped close-up of the first photo and shows the building where the site's social life primarily took place in the dining hall-theater-lounge building.  From left to right, the building was in three sections, the theater/TV room with an adjacent exercise room; a large room where the Top of the Mountain Lounge was located with the adjacent Base Exchange store, and the dining hall.

The third photograph, another cropped picture, shows the dormitory and volley ball court areas.  My dorm room was the third window to the left of the white doorway; the orderly room was just to the right of that doorway.

The fourth photograph provides a close-up of the antenna and radio building areas.

The fifth photograph, a color photo I took in July 1982 about 300 yards from where the black and white photo was taken, shows the main gate, motor pool and power plant areas.  If you look at the extreme left of the photograph in front of the motor pool garage, you'll see Det 150's trusty 4-wheel drive International Harvester bus which shows up on the sightseeing trips page.  The power plant building, a red and white building, is directly behind the four diesel oil tanks.  Behind the power plant is another, longer red and white building, the radio building.  If you look closely behind the parabola antenna next to the two billboard antennas, you'll see the CRE trailer truck van parked lengthwise.
