Reading T-1 2124 is a 4-8-4 Northern class steam
locomotive. The classification 4-8-4 meant it had four leading
wheels under the smoke box front end of the locomotive, eight
driving wheels under the boiler and four trailing wheels under the
actual firebox and locomotive cab.
Reading # 2124 is a historically
significant locomotive as it was one of the first engines used in
railroad excursion trips from 1959 to 1961. It also appeared
in Life magazine and a Joanne Woodward movie, "From the
Terrace."

Currently, Reading # 2124 rests in
retirement at Steamtown as a static display engine since it needs a
significant amount of work to put her back into service.
