The Bluejeans Place trademark, with and without the apostrophe, was put into commerce in May 2000 with the development of its Internet domain name, development of its web site and initial web site publication.  The trademark was also used in a specialized clothing product in 2001, 2002 and 2003.

The Blues History Documentary Project was placed into commerce in December 2001 when the intellectual property initiating it was placed into a special collection for use on Bluejeans Place.

These trademarks protecting the Bluejeans Place name, the term blujns, the nickname Bluejeans and The Blues History Documentary Project name meet the US Patent and Trademark Office’s definition of a trademark:

What is a trademark?
A trademark includes any word, name, symbol, or device, or any combination, used, or intended to be used, in commerce to identify and distinguish the goods of one manufacturer or seller from goods manufactured or sold by others, and to indicate the source of the goods. Under IANA and ICAN domain registration rules, the above trademarks preclude the Internet domain registration of the Bluejeans Place name by anyone other than the trademark holder.  Additionally, the same domain registration rules preclude the Internet domain registration of the term blujns and the term The Blues History Documentary Project.

Please note:  The trademark and copyright holder placed permanent renewal payment processes in place with the domain registrar managing the www.bluejeansplace.com domain to ensure the domain name is automatically renewed upon its expiration date, thereby precluding domain hijacking and cyber-squatting actions.
