While waiting in line to
board the ferry to the Statue of Liberty, I noticed a small, but
eloquent landmark, the Merchant Marine Memorial. The statues
speak volumes of the horror of submarine warfare against shipping in
World War II.

If you look closely,
you'll notice one figure is a drowning sailor being pulled up the
side of the ship by his shipmates, something that happened all too
often in WWII as German U-boats sank Allied shipping.
Bluejeans' Place is honored to salute
these veterans for their sacrifices for the Allied cause.
