Our parish, St Ignatius of Antioch Maronite Catholic
Church, is building a new parish hall and banquet facility in
2009. The parish's plan is to rent out the facility for
various organizational events, weddings, etc, to help defray the
cost of building our new church.
Here's where it gets
interesting. While assisting the parish council with some
project planning, we suggested a train show and meet as the first
"paying customer" in the Spring of 2009, which fits in well with the
parish hall's construction schedule. While they have not fully
committed to it yet, the Lionel Operating Train Society
(LOTS) is interested in participating in the event as well,
possibly as the event sponsor. We anticipate a one-day train
meet on a Saturday, running from about 11 to 5 Eastern time with a
four hour or so set-up window on Friday night.
We invite train show vendors and model
railroaders to keep an eye on this web page for further details on
the train meet. We would also like all our modular layout
friends to consider displaying their modules at the meet.
